Make Memories in Michigan with these Amazing Staycation Ideas

  1. Hike saugatuck dunes state park and head downtown saugatuck after for Ice cream at ice baby. We discovered ice baby one afternoon last summer after we took our boat up to saugatuck. Not only is it the cutest place ever (like Instagram pose worthy)  but their shakes are out of this world!  And they are massive!!!  We had the more s’mores and banana  cream pie…omg. They were soooo good and I’m not even a big ice cream fan. Check out the menu and be prepared to be wowed!!! https://www.michigan.org/property/saugatuck-dunes-state-parkhttps://www.icebabyusa.com/menus/#shakes
  2. Craigs cruisers in Wyoming. Need I say more. Wristband Wednesday is a phenomenal deal. Go carts, laser tag, bounce area, mini golf, bumper cars, the roller coaster I mean the fun really is endless. Their food really is good too for an arcade buffet. https://www.craigscruisers.com check their hours before you go. It looks like they’re closed Monday Tuesday & Thursdays right now.
  3. Hike north shore beach and play On the playground after you hit all those stairs and check out the stunning view of Lake Michigan. This is a favorite of ours since we keep our boat near by. Afterwards you can drive down the street to the fishermans pier. Please stay off if it’s windy & wavy but if it’s a nice day have at it!  Our boys love to climb in the rocks and explore the lighthouse. Afterwards hit up the local Ice cream shop, at ala mode In Ferrysburg. This is another family favorite. Just your traditional mom and pop ice cream place with a cute porch swing and playground for the kids. http://a-la-mode.edan.io. http://www.miottawa.org/Parks/northbeach.htm
  4. Grand Rapids public museum. I’m always surprised by how hands on the museums are now a days. So many fun things for the kids to check out at any age. Learn a little bit about the history of Grand Rapids and then head over to peppinos downtown to catch some March madness. Everyone can watch the game and you can have a cocktail . https://www.grpm.org https://www.peppinospizza.com
  5. Mountain bike at Luten park near Rockford. My husband took our two older boys last year during quarantine and they loved it. Now this would not be my cup of tea but according to Mr. Mitten there are a lot of nice walking trails as well ☺️ https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/3927737/luton-park
  6. Bowling at spectrum lanes. Rainy day, gotcha covered. Head on over to spectrum lanes or your local bowling alley for some good old fashioned fun. https://www.sec300.com
  7. Hike the grand ravines in jenison out by GVSU. This is a really flat hike. Super kid friendly with some really great views of the river and some cool bridges and just lots of great nature. Grab a big stick and explore!  https://www.sec300.com
  8. Water park at soaring eagle. Most of the water parks are closed right now due to covid restrictions but if you’re comfortable with it soaring eagle is open for business!  My kids loved it there!  They have a great little restaurant on site where we had pretty decent food and you could catch a March madness game if you need too. https://www.soaringeaglewaterpark.com
  9. Weekend trip to boyne mountain!  Probably my favorite place in northern Michigan!  You can still ski or you can check one of the many other activities they offer like Horse back riding. Zip lining. Arcade. pools. Fat tire bikes. Snow Tubing, the spa!  Ummm i said spa. They have some great shopping on site along with the best pizza ever at the trophy room! Speaking of food everything we’ve ever had at forty acres is seriously amazing!  My favorite!!  So many things you can do in the petoskey are as well if you just want to get out and explore but have a nice home base to return to. I highly recommend calling in advance if you want to reserve a spot for any of the activities i mentioned above. They fill up fast. Especially the zip lining. I’ve disappointed our middle child numerous times by promising this and then we get there and they’re full. I have learned my lesson!  There are awesome lodging deals right now as well. So take advantage!https://www.boynemountain.com/
